Preparation That Makes the Finish Last

A good paint job on furniture is mostly about what happens before the colour goes on. We clean each piece, sand it back, fill chips and dents where needed, and prime it so the new finish bonds and wears well.

It's the patient prep — not just the paint — that lets a repainted dresser or cabinet keep looking smart for years rather than chipping at the first knock.

Hand-Painted or Sprayed — Whatever Suits the Piece

Many freestanding and older pieces look best hand-painted, which keeps the character of the furniture and lets us work around mouldings and detail. We're happy to take that approach.

Where you want a flawless, brush-mark-free finish — on flat doors and panels, for instance — we can spray instead. We'll talk through which suits each piece before we start.

Colours and Finishes to Match Your Room

Wood, MDF, melamine and previously painted or lacquered pieces each need the right preparation — we build the finish from specialist adhesion primers (brands like Zinsser) up to hard-wearing trade topcoats.

Colours can be matched to your scheme, including designer ranges such as Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, in your choice of matt, satin or gloss.

How much does furniture painting cost?

It depends on the size and number of pieces, their condition and the finish you want — a single dresser is very different from a run of fitted units — so we don’t quote from a rate card. Tell us what you’d like painted and we’ll come back with a free, written, no-obligation quote with the scope itemised.

What does the furniture painting process involve?

We start with careful preparation — cleaning, sanding back, filling chips and dents where needed, and priming — because that’s what makes the finish last. We then apply the topcoats by hand or by spray depending on the piece and the look you’re after. Everything around the work is protected and the area is left clean.

What furniture can you paint?

Freestanding pieces such as dressers, sideboards, tables, chairs and cabinets, as well as built-in furniture like fitted wardrobes, bookcases and alcove units. We work on wood, MDF and previously painted or lacquered surfaces, prepared with the right primers (we use trade systems from brands like Zinsser) so the new finish bonds properly.

Can you hand-paint older or loved pieces, or do you only spray?

Both. Many pieces look best hand-painted, which keeps the character of an older item, and we’re happy to take that approach. Where you want a smooth, brush-mark-free finish — on flat doors and panels, for example — we can spray instead. We’ll talk through which suits each piece. We’re painters and finishers, not antique restorers, so we’ll be straight with you if a piece needs specialist repair first.
