Repair the Rot, Keep the Window

Decayed timber doesn't always mean a new window. We cut back the rotten wood, rebuild the section with a Repair Care / Dry Flex resin system, then shape, sand and paint it so the repair disappears into the original frame.

It's a far cheaper route than full replacement, and it keeps the character of period and original windows that newer units can't match.

Preparation Is Where the Finish Lasts

A coat of paint on poorly prepared timber won't last a winter. We sand back, remove flaking paint, treat and prime bare wood, and make good any putty before the topcoats go on.

That groundwork is what keeps exterior windows looking right and protected against the weather for years, rather than months.

How much does it cost to paint wooden windows?

It depends on the number and size of the windows, how much timber repair is needed and whether it’s interior or exterior work — so we don’t quote from a rate card. Tell us what you’d like done and we’ll come out, take a look and send a free, written, no-obligation quote with the scope itemised.

Can you repair rotten window frames instead of replacing them?

In most cases, yes. We cut out the decayed timber and rebuild the section with a resin repair system such as Repair Care / Dry Flex, which bonds to the wood and can be shaped, sanded and painted like the original. Repairing keeps your existing windows — often the right call for period and original timber — rather than the cost and disruption of full replacement. If a frame is too far gone we’ll tell you honestly.

What does the work involve?

We start by repairing any rot and making good, then prepare the timber — sanding back, removing flaking paint and priming bare wood — before applying the topcoats. Proper preparation is what makes the finish last, so we don’t skip it. We also tidy up loose putty and address sticking or jammed sashes where needed.

What materials and paints do you use?

We repair timber with Repair Care / Dry Flex resin systems, which are made for exterior joinery, and finish with quality trade paints suited to the surface and exposure. Colours can be matched to your existing scheme. We’ll recommend the right system for each window when we quote.
